Updates:

  • March 30, 2023 - We have learned that the erection of the salt storage shed will take place next week. The total time to erect the structure should be one week. We will provide updates here as the progress unfolds.

  • January 18, 2023 - The Town has finally been granted permission to issue a Notice to Proceed for construction of this storage shed.

  • December 31, 2022 - A few weeks ago, we received permission from NYS DEC to proceed. We are now awaiting permission from the APA who would like to perform a site visit to review and potential wetlands impact. Once we have clearance from the APA, then the project may proceed. All materials for the project are located on site, are staged and ready to be erected. We believe that this process will take place in the Spring when it’s advantageous to perform such work.

  • February 10, 2022 - Contract with Hybrid Building Solutions approved by Town Council and signed by Town Supervisor. 11-15 weeks to get the structure. Permitting and other regulatory approvals now will be obtained.

  • January 26, 2022 - We are currently working to ensure that contractual language for this project is accurate and will meet regulatory compliance (APA, DEC, local zoning and NYS codes)

  • Dateline: December 22, 2021 - The Town of Essex has received a $101,297 grant from the NYS DEC Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) Program to fund a sand/salt storage shed to help protect water quality in the area of the Highway Garage. We use very little salt on our roads, but for the salt that we do use, we want to make sure it is protected from the elements and does not seep into the local watershed. More details coming soon!
