Cycling
Essex provides some amazing circuits for those who enjoy cycling. Amazing views of the Adirondacks lead to lake shore cycling on Lake Champlain in just a few minutes. Hope on the Essex ferry and consider cycling around Lake Champlain. Return to Essex for great food, great lodging and more cycling with your family and friends. Behind Town Hall, you will find a bicycle repair station and a place to park your bike.

Sailing and boating
Lake Champlain is one of the largest lakes in the United States. Essex is situated in the middle of the lake and at its deepest point, 400’. Set the main sail for some magnificent time on the water as you play with the wind and explore this most majestic of lakes.
ATTENTION PADDLERS - Feel free to put in your canoe, SUP or kayak at Whallons Bay or at Beggs Park. Boats can be stored over the summer on the beach at Whallons Bay without charge.

Whether you find yourself on the water’s edge, in the fields, forests or wetlands, there are year-round birding opportunities that will introduce birders to a wide variety of species. Essex is home to the “Magic Triangle”, which attracts birds throughout the year.
