HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - The Town of Essex Highway Department has (1) full-time HEO position available. Applicants must hold a clean CDL. Starting rate of pay is $21.92 per hour. Benefits package offered through Teamsters contract, including health insurance, paid holidays, overtime, clothing allowance, vacation, sick and personal leave. Successful applicants will be trained on a variety of equipment and other miscellaneous tasks that pertain to the well-being of the town. DOG CONTROL OFFICER - The Town of Essex has a vacancy for a Dog Control Officer. This is a very part time responsibility with an average call volume of less than 5 total calls per year. The Town will provide paid training through NYS Ag & Markets. Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and be able to use one’s own vehicle. Federal Mileage Rate applies. Applicant must also have excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to diffuse difficult situations. Applicant must also enjoy working with dogs and have confidence to work with an aggressive dog (with appropriate safety tools provided). Payment is one lump sum at the end of the fiscal year, which can amount to approximately $400-500 after a full year of employment. Open application period until a qualified candidate is found.
